Skelton School Sampler
|
My grandmother was born in a small village of northern England at the end of the nineteenth century. She attended a tiny Skelton School where she received a strict, but rather progressive education for a girl. I do not have any charming childhood samplers which she stitched, so I worked this piece, imagining what she might have done. It is worked on cream Belfast linen using pale shades of rosewood, ice blue and cream silks. Perhaps it will be a piece for you to hand down to a future generation.
